Directory signals are leads, not selection evidence
A bounded read of three marketing-skill directories and one result on each found different kinds of signals: a quality score, an alphabetical listing with a safety label, and installation telemetry with audit badges. None of those inspected presentations verifies this catalogue’s intended revision, complete installed package, host permissions, task fit or marketing outcome.
Three signals, three different meanings
| Directory and inspected result | What was visible on the observed pages | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| marketingskills.sh Content Marketing Short-form video script result | A ranked “Skills Leaderboard” and a labelled Quality Score of 4.8/5, with four dimensions. The home page names those dimensions. The inspected pages did not explain scoring inputs, assessor, weights or the rank calculation. | Measured job performance, installation safety or a source-revision pin. The score is a directory assessment label, not this catalogue’s test. |
| skills.marketing index Content Strategy result | The index says topic grouping and A–Z order, not quality ranking. The result shows a quick answer, source link, stars, MIT label and “Safe.” Its Learn page describes install and manual-copy routes. The linked Safe detail was inaccessible in this read. | A fit score, verified complete payload or security clearance. The unavailable detail prevents assessment of that label here. |
| skills.sh Marketing Copywriting result | The docs say site leaderboard ranking uses anonymous aggregate CLI installation telemetry, not usage or outcomes; they do not specify the inspected topic-list sort. The result shows an install count, stars and three Pass badges. One audit detail reports SAFE/Pass and an analysis date of 16 October 2026. | Successful use, this pool’s selected revision, local permissions or marketing efficacy. The docs do not guarantee every listing’s quality or security; an audit badge is a reported external assessment with the visible scope. |
Move from discovery to a bounded decision
- Define the jobName one output and the approved inputs. Try a maintained brief, template or reviewed prompt when it is sufficient.
- Open the original sourceCheck the exact revision,
SKILL.md, supporting files, license and actual install route. A directory excerpt or badge is not a package manifest. - Map access and reviewRecord requested local reads, web access, tools, accounts and cost. Keep a named reviewer and a separate stop before publishing, sending, deploying or changing spend.
Do not compare the three publishers’ scores, counts or badges as though they were one quality scale: no shared measurement method was established.
