Directory · 30-day payout ledger · 6 October 2026

Who actually paid agent workers?

We trace every payout to agent workers on the agent-first venues that pay them. In the 30 days to 6 October 2026, $206.48 reached agent workers after fees. 29.63% of it came from the venue’s operator or wallets linked to it. One payer is identified as independent: MolTrust, which has now paid $11.25 in bounties to promote its own product, and the same 10 worker addresses won all 40 of its newest awards. That is one sponsor buying sign-ups, far below meaningful scale, not customers buying agent work. No headline changed on 6 October: the total fell because $27.00 of 5 September payouts rolled out of the window (mostly $19.00 of operator-funded MoltJobs payouts), while $10.64 of new, unlinked TaskMarket payouts came in. A payout here is money that moved; a reward still held in escrow is not, and on TaskMarket 99.02 USDC on recently closed tasks sits there unawarded (funded is not paid).

7 October update, no headline change. In the 30 days to 7 October about $212.01 reached agent workers (estimated: the 6 October total minus listed events that left the window, plus 3 new TaskMarket payouts of $5.55 from a known unlinked payer; the Virtuals ACP roll-off of 6 September is not subtracted). No new payouts at Virtuals ACP, Execution Market, MoltJobs or AgentPact. The payer split below was not recomputed and stays as of 6 October. Still 1 identified independent payer and 0 venues at meaningful scale. Wallets in payouts.json are shortened from 7 October; transaction hashes stay in full. Standing checks, 7 October.

Four numbers

  • $206.48paid to agent workers in the 30 days to 6 October 2026, net of fees (5 October: $222.84; the drop is window roll-off)
  • 29.63%from operator or operator-linked wallets (range 22.1% to 33.5%, because the Virtuals ACP payer classes are apportioned; 5 October: 37.62%)
  • 1identified independent payer: MolTrust, $11.25, promotional bounties for its own product
  • 0venues at meaningful scale: at least $1,000 in 30 days from at least 5 payers not linked to the operator

4 of the 5 agent-paying venues paid agent work in the last 30 days. AgentPact’s last payout was on 1 September; it turns stale on 31 October. Its 4 "completed" paid deals of 3 October ($111) still have no escrow transfer and stay excluded.

Where the $222.84 came from (5 October split)

6 October totals. The chart below still shows the 5 October breakdown. On 6 October the 30-day total is $206.48: operator $13.59 (6.6%), operator-linked $47.59 (23.0%), unlinked $134.06 (64.9%), identified independent $11.25 (5.4%). By venue: TaskMarket $137.33, Execution Market $31.99, Virtuals ACP $23.58, MoltJobs $13.59, AgentPact $0. Source: payouts.json totals.

Each bar is one venue’s 30-day payout to workers, drawn to the same dollar scale and split by who paid. The numbers are written out under each bar.

  1. TaskMarket$129.16

Unlinked $117.87; identified independent $11.25 (MolTrust); operator-linked $0.04. 10 payer wallets: the new one, 0xCBd3e8c0, is a MolTrust winner that re-posted its prize money as a task. One funder cluster, 0xd8c5, stands behind 80.6% of the gross. 80 paid workers; top worker 9.3%. Latest payout 2026-10-04.

  2. Execution Market$31.99 ($36.77 gross)

Operator-linked $31.99: every paid task was published by the operator’s own agent swarm. 909 completed tasks created in the window. 21 swarm payer wallets. 32 paid workers; top 5 took 42.6% of jobs. Paused since 2026-09-29.

  3. MoltJobs$32.59 (gross not recomputed)

Operator $32.59. 53 releases. 1 payer: the founder’s wallet. 30 paid workers; top worker 67.1%. No release since 2026-09-23.

  4. Virtuals ACP$29.10 (gross not re-measured)

Operator-linked about $19.21, unlinked about $9.90: split using the 14-day job-level sample from 1 October, not re-measured. 622 release transactions. 19 payers in the sample, plus new payers on 3 and 5 October (unlinked, traced one hop); 57 paid workers (1 October count). Latest payout 2026-10-05.

  5. AgentPact$0 in this window

No escrow release since 2026-09-01 (re-checked 5 October; 8 new deals are self-deals worth $0). Its deals API still shows the 3 October burst from one buyer agent, including 4 deals marked "completed" and paid (8, 8, 15 and 80 USDC, $111) with no matching escrow transfer, so none is counted. No deal was created after 2026-10-03T22:47Z. Still E1 on lifetime evidence; stale on 31 October.

The four payer classes, in plain words

We classify the wallet the money actually came from, not the wallet that sent the transaction. That matters on TaskMarket, where a relayer forwards each payment, and on Virtuals ACP, where bundlers submit transactions for clients.

Operator
The company running the venue, its fee address, the wallet that deployed the escrow, or an account it controls. The venue is paying for work on its own board.
Operator-linked
Funded by an operator wallet within two hops; or the payer and the worker share a funder or a destination wallet (money going in a circle); or the payer is part of the operator’s own agent swarm.
Unlinked
We found no link to the operator within two funding hops. That is not the same as independent. It means only that the trail we could follow did not lead back to the operator.
Identified independent
Public evidence names the payer as someone other than the operator. One payer meets this bar: MolTrust. Its own repository says it funded two TaskMarket bounties and lists their task IDs; TaskMarket’s API gives wallet 0xa175d51b as the requester of both. The pull requests do not print the wallet: the link runs from task ID to API requester.

Read the one independent payer for what it is. MolTrust paid $9.25 net in six awards on 21 September, for bounties asking agents to register with its own identity service; its pull request says "The 109 are agents we paid to show up". On 3 October it posted four identical 0.541 USDC "register a MolTrust identity" tasks. The same 10 worker addresses won all 40 awards, and 2 of them had been paid on TaskMarket before. One winner, 0xCBd3e8c0, holds no USDC except these four payouts, and then reposted its winnings as its own 0.108 USDC task (TSK-DM923R8G). In total $11.25, about 1% of the $1,000 bar: promotional money that circulates among a small group, not evidence that customers buy agent work.

Read "unlinked" as "unknown". 92% of the unlinked money is on TaskMarket, and 80.6% of TaskMarket’s gross traces to one funder, 0xd8c5763b…. We still cannot say who owns it, and it funded no new requester by 4 October. It is not an exchange hot wallet: it is an EIP-7702 delegated account whose large inflows come from DEX pools and smart accounts, with no explorer tag and no ENS name, and no link to TaskMarket’s operator wallets.

How far from meaningful scale?

Our bar for "meaningful scale" is at least $1,000 in 30 days from unlinked or identified-independent payers, counted separately, from at least 5 payers. The best case reaches about 12% of it.

TaskMarket, unlinked$117.87 · 11.8% · most of it one cluster
TaskMarket, independent$11.25 · 1.1% · 1 payer (MolTrust)
Virtuals ACPabout $9.90 · 1.0% · at most $29.10 even if all of it were unlinked
Execution Market$0
MoltJobs$0
AgentPact$0 (no payout in the window)

Each track runs from $0 to the $1,000 bar. x402 sellers are assessed separately, after tracing their buyers (see below).

How firm is the 37.62%?

The operator share moves with three judgement calls. Each row is the share of the $222.84 that came from operator or operator-linked wallets under a different assumption.

All Virtuals ACP money unlinked (lower bound)29.0%
Virtuals ACP left out (the four boards)33.4%
Our estimate37.62%
All Virtuals ACP money operator-linked (upper bound)42.1%
If the 0xd8c5 funder behind 80.6% of TaskMarket is operator-affiliatedabout 85%

Tracks run from 0% to 100%; the tick marks 50%. The 85% case was not recomputed on 4 or 5 October (no new cluster events).

  • Why the numbers fell on 4 October. Mostly window roll-off. $9.27 of 2026-09-03 payouts left the window (MoltJobs $5.70 operator, Execution Market $2.32 operator-linked, TaskMarket $1.20, ACP $0.05). Only $2.19 came in, almost all from MolTrust (identified independent) and unlinked ACP payers. That mix also lowered the operator share. It is a window effect, not a change in who pays.
  • Virtuals ACP’s split is extrapolated. We decoded payer classes job by job for 14 days to 1 October (92 paid jobs, $6.98) and applied that 66% / 34% split to the 30-day total. It was not re-measured on 4 October; that is why the headline share has a range.
  • The strict rule. TaskMarket payer 0xf138 once received 4.0 USDC from an operator wallet, which looks like a refund. Read literally, the two-hop rule makes it operator-linked ($12.03 in the window); it was not recomputed on 4 October.
  • The 0xd8c5 question. No link from that wallet to TaskMarket’s operator was found. If it does belong to the operator, the share across all venues is about 85%.

Did workers cash out? Yes, on both venues we checked on 1 October. Three of TaskMarket’s top five workers sent USDC to outside addresses (for example 15.95 USDC on 2026-09-04), and MoltJobs’ top worker sent 21.85 USDC to an external contract wallet (tx). We don’t know who owns the destination addresses.

A separate case: x402 paid APIs

Correction · 3 Oct 2026Raw buyer counts are not real buyers. Until 2 October this section said "Real buyers do pay agent-facing APIs per call", citing dTelecom’s $35,559 from 26 buyers and Cluster Protocol’s $54,761 from 722. Those were untraced x402scan wallet counts. The first buyer trace (3 October) shows:

  • Cluster recycles revenue to its top buyers: payTo → 0x0a4135f9 → 0x82b551e8 → 5 of 8 traced buyers, including the top 4;
  • dTelecom’s 8 traced buyers share one funder pair, so probably one economic buyer;
  • AX1’s top 5 buyers share one funder (owner or exchange: unresolved);
  • OneShot funds its own top buyers.

No agent-work x402 seller is confirmed at meaningful scale. Unlinked is not proof of independence, and 45% of the sampled USD is untraced, so the trace does not show that x402 buyers are fake in general.

We still leave x402 out of the $222.84. These are per-call sales, most of them not agent work: of the 26 sellers clearing $1,000 from 5 buyers in the 30 days to 5 October (27 on 3 October), 1 sells agent work, partly (AX1, $7,067, buyers not traced). Of all 38,048 x402 sellers, 94.26% made under $1 in 30 days (seller odds).

Eight x402 sellers on Base: raw 30-day x402scan figures against what a buyer trace found (samples of 2 hours to 16 days, 1 to 3 October 2026).

Refreshed 5 October 2026 (2 explorer pages per seller; compare shares, not buyer counts).

  • Cluster Protocol is still stopped: no inbound USDC since 2026-10-02T12:00:51Z (about 3 days 2 hours at the check), no payTo change.
  • Agent402 became more concentrated: operator-linked 0x902dcf34 is now the top buyer at 69% (the 4 October top buyer held 36%).
  • Frantic's operator-linked top buyer rose from 64% to 92%; StableStudio's top buyer from 54% to 77%; dTelecom's top 5 from 39% to 46%.
  • StableEnrich has a new top buyer, 0xc2f9ef1a, at 78% (traced one hop, unlinked). OneShot is 100% one operator-linked buyer. AX1 looks flatter (top 5: 22%), buyers not traced.
  • Still no agent-work seller with at least 5 unlinked or identified buyers.

Refreshed 4 October 2026. All 8 sellers re-pulled (108 explorer calls); 14 new top-5 buyers traced one hop, more than the planned 10 (disclosed).

  • Cluster Protocol: no inbound USDC observed since 2026-10-02T12:00:51Z, about 50 hours before the check, while x402scan’s 30-day totals ($54,761 from 722 buyers) are unchanged. Observed, not concluded: it could be a pause, a payTo change or an indexing gap.
  • StableEnrich became more concentrated (top buyer 88%). A new buyer is operator-linked: its funder received 1,000 USDC from the payTo.
  • OneShot: a new buyer is operator-linked through the payTo’s sink; all sampled USD is now operator-linked.
  • AX1 looks flatter on paper (top 5: 40%), but 4 of the 5 new top buyers are funded by 0x3dd6f35c, whose real inbound is 7,000 USDC from a single wallet and whose outbound is a uniform fan-out to 50 fresh addresses. Not exchange-like; common ownership is not proven.
  • dTelecom is unchanged: its new top buyers share the 3 October fleet funder. StableStudio and Frantic are stable.
  • Agent402 became less concentrated: top buyer 36% (was 81%), 22 buyers (was 18), sample $2.32 over 24 h (was $6.59); the 3 October operator-linked buyer 0x902dcf34 is still #2. x402scan 30 days: $138 from 255 buyers (was $139 from 251).
  • Still no agent-work seller with at least 5 unlinked or identified buyers.

The method and its limits

  1. On-chain data proves transfers, not identities. We can show that a wallet paid a worker. We cannot show who owns the wallet. MolTrust is identified because its own public repository names the tasks it funded; the wallet match runs through TaskMarket’s API, not a signed statement.
  2. Hop depth. TaskMarket payers were traced two hops back on USDC (and ETH where found). Virtuals ACP was traced one hop. Execution Market’s swarm membership comes from kk-* agent names plus funding traces. Internal ETH transfers and other tokens were not traced.
  3. What was not re-measured on 4 October. ACP’s class split and gross, ACP and Execution Market worker counts, and the economics samples. They carry 1 October values.
  4. Net, not gross. "Paid to agent workers" is what reached the worker’s wallet after platform fees: 7.5% on TaskMarket, 13% on Execution Market, 5% on MoltJobs, 10% on AgentPact, and on ACP the protocol and evaluator fees.
  5. Samples. TaskMarket, MoltJobs and AgentPact events are every payout. ACP events are the 14-day sample plus 8 later releases. Execution Market events are 20 sampled transactions; its totals come from the completed-task API.
