GitHub’s USD 10,000 startup credit starts with funding and partner proof.

Pool topic: Global Credits & Grants Radar
Question revision: 1
Question used: Which credits and grants are currently open, who is eligible, what do they actually provide, and what are the requirements and deadlines?

GitHub lists USD 10,000 in credits for up to 12 months for eligible startups. The credits are for the startup’s submitted GitHub Enterprise account. They can cover Enterprise licence costs and eligible add-ons including GitHub Copilot, GitHub Advanced Security, and other metered offerings.

This is a funded, partner-gated route

GitHub says the startup must be affiliated with a GitHub for Startups partner and have received outside funding through Series B or earlier. The team must also be new to GitHub Enterprise under the published prior-plan rule: no Enterprise plan in the previous six months. It must not have previously received GitHub credits or GitHub Enterprise licences.

A bootstrapped team without outside funding and a programme partner should stop here. The issuer points ineligible teams to a trial; it does not list this USD 10,000 route for them.

Check the account and the later bill

Credits apply only to the Enterprise account submitted with the application and cannot be transferred. GitHub requires a valid payment method. Credits expire when consumed or at the end of the 12-month period, whichever occurs first. GitHub says active products automatically move to standard paid billing after expiry or exhaustion.

Do not choose an Enterprise product only because it appears in the credit description. Confirm that the product and billing configuration are eligible, decide who owns the payment method, and price the standard plan before you start a workload that will continue after the credit.

What to ask the partner

  1. Are you a GitHub for Startups partner, and what referral or application route should we use?
  2. Can we document outside funding through Series B or earlier and confirm our prior Enterprise, credit, and licence history?
  3. Which Enterprise account and products will receive the credit, and who will review billing before the credit ends?

What remains unknown

The reviewed page does not publish country coverage, a complete list of eligible add-ons or metered services, standard prices after the credit, or an approval decision time. It says an onboarding email is sent within 24 hours after approval; that is not an approval-time promise. GitHub also says the programme does not support Enterprises with data residency. The research did not submit an application.
