NLnet Restack: check the people behind the project before 3 November
NLnet's Restack call accepts individual applicants and closes 3 November 2026 at 12:00 CET. A first proposal may request EUR 5,000–50,000 for defined technical work. That is a request range, not an award. The application is not a general worldwide cash grant.
The eligibility check before drafting
Restack's applicant guide treats a clear European dimension as a first-stage eligibility rule. NLnet explains that this concerns the people contributing to the project, not just where the technology might be used. An EU or Horizon Europe-associated applicant has a clearer route. NLnet also lists other eligible third countries; applicants elsewhere may qualify in exceptional cases if they can show the required link. Do not infer rejection or approval from a country label alone.
- Check your country against NLnet's current list and the European Commission list it cites as controlling.
- Identify the actual contributors and where the requested grant money would go. NLnet's applicant Q&A says European customers or possible adoption alone usually do not establish the link.
- Check Restack's scope, open-licence rules and AI-topic exclusion before filling in the live form. The form asks for tasks, rates, related work and technical challenges.
NLnet's current GenAI policy requires disclosure and a prompt log if you use a generative tool to prepare the proposal; purely generated work cannot be paid for as a grant outcome. NLnet has said a revision is coming, so check the policy again before submitting.
Separate status check: Interledger Local Impact still says applications are paused. These two grants have different purposes and eligibility rules.
