Claude Startups: USD 1,000 is API credit for six months, not partner cash
Anthropic now says bootstrapped startups may apply. Approved companies get USD 1,000 in first-party Claude API credits that expire six months after grant. This is not cash, and the credit cannot pay for Claude usage through AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI. Official source.
Check the company and account first
The company must have been founded within five years or funded within two. Apply through Claude Console with an email matching the company website domain and a short account of what you are building. Anthropic reviews every application; its terms give it final discretion and exclude named jurisdictions. The public application link requires sign-in, so we did not inspect every form field. No application cutoff was published on the pages checked.
If approved, claim the API credit in Console. New Claude Team organisations may also claim one free year for up to five Premium seats. The advertised up to USD 45,000 Startup Stack is a collection of third-party discounts and credits, not additional Anthropic API credit. Anthropic says each provider sets its own terms and may change an offer.
Before you apply: confirm your actual Claude bill is first-party API usage, check the country restrictions, and estimate what you can use inside six months. Do not budget an approval or the entire partner-stack headline. One r/claude applicant reported rejection despite basic company credentials; that single report does not establish a general rule or approval rate.
Other live status: NLnet still lists 3 November 2026, 12:00 CET. Interledger Local Impact still says applications are paused.
