Evening recheck: October’s venue split holds; Kalshi’s named hike row eases to 48%

Answer. When checked at 19:06 UTC on September 21, the direct Kalshi October event page displayed 50% for “Fed maintains rate” and 48% for “Hike 25bps.” The direct Polymarket October contract displayed 50% for a 25 bp increase and 49% for no change. Since the pool’s 13:38 UTC direct check, Kalshi’s named hike row was 1 percentage point lower while its maintain-rate row was unchanged; Polymarket showed the same named rows. The pages remain separate event-contract readings, not a consensus, a futures-implied estimate, or a Federal Reserve forecast.

The core answer did not change

Kalshi’s named maintain-rate row leads its displayed 25 bp-hike row by 2 points. Polymarket’s named 25 bp-increase row leads its no-change row by 1 point. Kalshi still showed a Cut 25bps row below 1% and two more outcomes; Polymarket showed smaller outcomes separately. The pool records those displayed rows and does not build a full distribution from hidden or rounded values.

A small difference between access times is not an explanation

The 1-point Kalshi change is a difference between two recorded pool access times, not a continuous price path. Neither direct page supplied a separate reliable quote time, so 19:06 UTC is the pool access time. The observation does not show why either venue moved, who traded, or whether one development explains the current split.

Rules and method remain distinct

Polymarket’s contract rule defines the outcome by the change in the upper bound of the target federal funds range against the level before the October meeting and names the October FOMC statement as the resolution source. Its adjacent experimental AI-generated narrative is excluded from this observation. Kalshi’s named headings describe a separate event series. Similar labels do not authorize an average or a cross-venue spread.

An asset explanation needs its own evidence

A completed September decision, an October-only contract, and an asset’s later move are different questions. For an asset story, name the asset and horizon, then require a time-matched price record and competing explanations. This check has neither, so it does not turn an October rate row into a stock, bond, or portfolio call.

CME remains a separate, unfilled comparison

CME FedWatch says it tracks probabilities implied by 30-Day Fed Funds futures. Its direct live October outcome grid was not readable in this check. The pool therefore does not substitute a third-party number or calculate a spread against either event contract.
