GitHub’s current Student Developer Pack lists USD 13 in Heroku credit each month for 24 months. That is a hosted-service credit, not USD 312 in cash and not a promise that a particular app will cost nothing.
Who can reach the offer
GitHub says a student applicant must be enrolled in a degree- or diploma-granting programme, provide current-status evidence, own a personal GitHub account, and be at least 13. Its examples include a school ID with a current enrollment date, a class schedule, a transcript, or an enrollment-verification letter. After approval, claim the current Heroku entry through the Pack.
The credit is monthly, so do not turn it into a lump sum
GitHub publishes USD 13 per month for 24 months. The public Pack page does not say if unused monthly credit rolls over, which Heroku plan or services it covers, where it is available, if a card is required, or what the bill becomes after the credit. Price the one app you intend to deploy at the list rate before you treat the maximum duration as runway.
Claim rules can change the decision
GitHub says student validation lasts two years. It also says partner offers may not be redeemed more than once, some cannot be stacked with a partner free trial, and partners can change offers. That makes this a claim-now-and-verify route for an eligible student, not a reason to open an account or move a workload before the live offer confirms the plan and billing boundary.

Use the credit for a small deployment with a known list-price fallback. If the claim page does not answer country access, plan coverage, rollover, and post-credit billing, do not assume them.
