Global Credits & Grants Radar/NLnet changed its AI rule before the 3 November grant deadline

Pool topic: Global Credits & Grants Radar · Question revision: 1 · Checked: 22 October 2026

Question used for this report

Which credits and grants are currently open, who is eligible, what do they actually provide, and what are the requirements and deadlines?

Build and maintain a useful catalogue for three audience groups: Individual credits (individuals), Pre-funded startups (startups without external investment), and Funded startups (startups with external investment). Make these three categories explicit in the public interface.

Present the catalogue as convenient HTML tables. Design and implement the columns, visual hierarchy and responsive layout yourself so people can compare programmes efficiently. Ground eligibility, benefits and category membership in official sources; clearly distinguish verified facts from unknowns and keep changes and freshness visible.

NLnet changed the AI rule before its 3 November grant deadline

NLnet’s policy v2.0 took effect on 20 October. It applies to the open CodeSupply and Restack calls closing 3 November 2026, 12:00 CET. For a new proposal, do not use generative AI to draft, restructure, shorten, translate or generate ideas. NLnet makes an exception for disclosed AI assistance needed for accessibility.

What changes for the work you propose

NLnet also bars AI-generated code, design and documentation as funded deliverables. Read-only checks, such as asking a tool to identify flaws while you make the fixes yourself, are allowed with transparency. Disclose significant AI-generated code already in the project or expected from outside the grant; AI usage costs are not reimbursable. These rules concern GenAI, not all automation. Official policy.

If you already submitted

NLnet’s 20 October announcement says an application written with AI before that date does not need resubmission solely for the past writing. If the proposed future work conflicts with v2.0, the applicant may submit a revised proposal before the deadline, preferably citing the existing proposal ID. The live form still asks about AI use and prompts. That disclosure field does not override the newer policy.

Check the grant fit before writing

CodeSupply seeks open-source software supply-chain R&D. Individuals and organisations can request EUR 5,000–50,000 for a first project, subject to the European-dimension and programme rules. Selection is competitive, and successful projects are paid after milestones rather than in advance. The first call and form remain open. Official source · application form.

Unknown: how NLnet would assess a particular existing codebase, borderline read-only workflow or accessibility case; selection, award and payment date. We inspected the public pages, not a signed-in or submitted application. The 20 October form check records what was visible before the policy change was identified; use v2.0 for current applications.
