Self-funded in India? AWS Portfolio may still be an option
Startup India’s AWS listing advertises USD 5,000 in AWS Activate credits for DPIIT-recognised startups. It explicitly includes self-funded companies. This is a Portfolio provider route, not the direct Founders application, and the listing does not promise approval.
Check the gate before applying
Startup India lists a DPIIT association and its Organization ID, a working company website, incorporation within 10 years, and no previous equal-or-greater credit from an Activate Provider. AWS’s current tier page requires a provider Org ID for Portfolio, pre-Series B status and a Paid Tier AWS account. Its main page says applications usually receive a decision in 5–10 business days; that is not the credit validity period.
If you have DPIIT recognition but no Org ID, confirm the provider route with Startup India before submitting a Portfolio application. AWS also has a direct Founders route starting at USD 1,000; selected Founders participants may get more, but it is not the same USD 5,000 provider offer. A founder without recognition or provider access should compare the direct route rather than count on Portfolio.
Status and deadline: The public Startup India page still links to an application. Neither checked public page gives a cutoff or an awarded-credit expiry for this specific offer. We did not enter a signed-in application or inspect an award.
Unknown: whether Startup India will issue or verify your Org ID, whether the signed-in offer is available to you, the amount AWS would award, and when that credit would expire. Check the official partner listing and AWS tier rules before spending against it.
