Submission route and allocation route are different
DigitalOcean lets a founder without a named partner submit an application, but its amount varies and credits are awarded through its programme arrangements. Ask the programme team or partner what award level applies before using a possible credit as runway.
Ask one direct question now
“Can you give us the programme identifier, referral code, or partner-proof route, and confirm which provider tier you believe we qualify for?” Do not ask only whether your investor “has perks.” The proof route is the actionable evidence. For Microsoft, also ask what the code changes in writing; its USD 150,000 ceiling is staged, not an automatic partner award.
Catch after approval
Credits can cover only eligible services and may expire before the product’s bill stabilises. Cloudflare’s funded tiers still have Workers AI and R2 caps, named exclusions, a payment-method requirement, and overage risk. Treat every credit runway as a temporary budget, not a pricing plan.
